Rebreather/Advanced Rebreather Recreational CCR Courses on the Prism 2

Article written by John Conway

As rebreather diving increases in popularity, there are many divers who would like to experience the advantages a CCR has to offer while staying within recreational diving limits. Others might like to ease into Tec and rebreather diving by learning the basics of rebreather diving before accepting the challenges of technical diving.

To increase flexibility and meet student demands, some training agencies permit the use of the Prism 2 to be used to teach recreational CCR courses. These courses limit the diver to a maximum depth of 40 m/132 ft staying within the no decompression limits. Just recently, PADI adjusted the PADI rebreather and Advanced Rebreather CCR course standards. Working with PADI, Hollis Rebreathers has made it possible for PADI Tec 40 CCR Instructors to conduct PADI Rebreather Diver and Advanced Rebreather Diver Courses using the Prism 2. No modification to the Prism 2 is required to teach these programs.

PADI Instructors are directed to ensure that they read the 1Q23 PADI Training Bulletin Article Standards Changes to Rebreather Courses Based on ISO Standards
